Ishmael K. Ngetich
Founder & Executive Director
Ishmael Kimutai Ngetich is a seasoned Lawyer with an LLB degree and specialized expertise in Humanitarian and Refugee Law. Over a distinguished 19-year career with UNHCR, he has worked across seven countries—Kenya, Yemen, Egypt, Ethiopia, South Africa, Jordan, and Zambia—supporting diverse refugee populations from the DRC, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda, Syria, Eritrea, Angola, Uganda and Palestine. His work has centered on Refugee Protection, Refugee Status Determination, and the implementation of durable solutions, including resettlement to third countries, local integration, and labor mobility programs. Although Ishmael formally branched into Environmental Conservation in early 2025 due to global funding shifts, this transition represents the realization of a long-standing personal vision. For more than 13 years, he carried a deep passion for environmental protection—particularly the restoration of degraded ecosystems and the safeguarding of biodiversity—but it is in 2025 that this dream has finally materialized into active work. In his current focus, Ishmael integrates Environmental Law with on-the-ground conservation efforts, working to reclaim local wetlands, promote eco-tourism, and educate communities and students on sustainable environmental stewardship. Driven by a commitment to reversing environmental degradation, he works collaboratively with local communities to protect endangered species such as birds, Colobus monkeys, and indigenous reptiles. Globally experienced, community-centered, and purpose-driven, Ishmael brings a rare combination of humanitarian expertise and environmental passion to advance long-term, impactful change.
